| Whole 10 kWh unit, indicative | 8,100–10,800 | Our derivation from the rows above |
These are ex-works figures for battery and inverter hardware in the 10 kWh class. They are not a price list, not a quotation, and not valid for a different cell supplier, a different power class or a different certification scope.
What the unit price does not include
- Certification. UN38.3, IEC 62619 and any market-specific mark. Cost is fixed per construction and has to be amortised over the units you actually sell.
- Packaging for sea freight, including UN38.3-compliant packaging and palletising.
- Inland haulage to port, ocean freight, insurance and duty in the destination country.
- Channel margin. This is the big one, and it is not a rounding error.
Where the money actually sits in the end price
Third-party market work puts the share of residential battery volume moving through installers and distributors at close to four fifths of the market (Mordor Intelligence, 2025 — third-party estimate, treat as directional). That matches what we see: the delivered and installed price of a 10 kWh system in a mature market is many times the ex-works hardware cost, and most of the difference is not freight. It is local labour, design, permits, warranty and the distributor's margin.
How to get a real number
- Fix the power class and the market, because both change certification scope.
- Ask for the bill of materials with cell brand, BMS platform and inverter model named.
- Ask which tests the construction already carries, and who holds them.
- Ask for the price at your actual first-order quantity, not at a notional 1,000 units.
- Supplier quotation sheet, EXW, 2026-06-15 — pack prices by mounting type, 10.24 kWh class.
- Inverter price range: our own estimate from 2026 supplier pricing, explicitly not a quotation.
- Channel share: Mordor Intelligence, 2025 — third-party estimate, used here as a directional figure only.
- Whole-unit range: our derivation from the rows above; it is not a supplier quotation.

Answers in short
How much does a 10 kWh home battery cost to make?
On the hardware side, a 10.24 kWh LFP pack quoted to us in June 2026 was about CNY 5,632 ex-works in rack form, and a complete unit with a 6 kW hybrid inverter lands around CNY 8,100–10,800 ex-works in our derivation. Certification and freight are additional.
Why is the installed price so much higher than the hardware price?
Because the majority of residential storage volume is sold and installed through local channel partners who carry labour, permits, warranty and service. Their share is structural, not a markup you can negotiate away by switching supplier.
Is a bigger pack always cheaper per kWh?
Hardware cost per kWh tends to fall as capacity rises, but so does inventory risk and freight weight. For a first order, the smaller SKU with better documentation is usually the better commercial decision.

If you are sourcing for a private label programme, the fastest way to a real number is a bill of materials and a target market. Send both and you get a written quote instead of a brochure.
